Good Morning St. Margaret Mary Community,
Thank you to all of the families and staff who attended our Open House last night. We were blessed with incredible weather, great food and a really fun photo booth! Thank you to our Catholic School Council for their support. A special shoutout to Alexandra Y and Joshua B who helped pick up the litter on the playground at the end of our event!
UPCOMING DATES:
Thursday, September 21 - PHOTO DAY Individual student photos and class photos will be taken. Students are to be in uniform.
Friday, September 22 - PA Day No school for students.
Friday, September 29 - Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. As September 30 falls on a Saturday this year, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 29.
Tuesday, October 3 - CROSS COUNTRY: Students from Grade 2 to 8 are invited to participate in our Fall Cross Country Meet at Camp Marydale. Students that are interested will receive a permission form from our coaches. Parents are welcome to meet us at Camp Marydale that day. Parking is $5.
SCHOOL INFORMATION:
Fire drills: we are mandated to complete 6 fire drills each school year. 3 in the fall and 3 in the spring. Today our school had our first successful drill of the year.
Pizza days: Pizza days will be starting up after Thanksgiving. This year orders will only be accepted through School Cash Online. Information will be sent home next week with prices and more information. Pizza days will continue to be weekly on Thursdays.
Parking lot: a reminder that the entrance from Idlewood and the exit to Brentwood is one way between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Please adhere to the flow of traffic for the safety of all of us.
Bus Zones: we have two bus loading zones that are clearly marked with signage. Do not park or stop in these areas. Bylaw is frequently called to our neighbourhood and they will ticket for infractions.
We encourage our students and families to attend on the weekend Masses at our lovely parish next door. Masses are each Saturday at 5:00 pm and on Sunday at 9:00 am and 11:00 a.m. https://www.stmargaretmaryparish.ca/
Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the week,
Mrs. Coletto
